Baxter is Chairman Emeritus of Jefferies and Company, Inc., a global investment bank focusing on mid-cap companies. He retired as Chief Executive Officer in 2001, a position he had held since 1987. He is the former Ambassador to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, where he served from November 2006 to January 2009. Mr. Baxter has been involved in numerous civic activities, including the following: Chairman of After-School All-Stars; Chairman of the Board of Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, an organization dedicated to starting a number of charter schools in Los Angeles; Board Member, California Institute of the Arts; Member, Governor Schwarzenegger’s Commission for Jobs and Economic Growth; Vice Chairman of the Board of the Los Angeles Opera, whose budget grew 2 ½ times during his tenure as President; Chairman of the Executive Committee, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, while undergoing a major building campaign; Trustee, University of California Berkeley Foundation; and Trustee, I Have a Dream Foundation, LA Chapter.

Dr. Sabrina Kay is a self-made serial entrepreneur and philanthropist. Currently, Sabrina is Chancellor and CEO of Fremont College in California, which is the implementation of her dissertation from the Wharton School, Professional Action Learning®, a unique learning model that modernizes professional education and the workplace.
Sabrina has led a diverse professional life from fashion and the arts to banking and finance. Starting as a fashion designer, she caught the entrepreneurial bug at a very early age and founded Art Institute of Hollywood, which sold to a publicly traded company, EDMC, and she retired in her 30’s. Sabrina then served on over 30 different charitable and civic boards, launched 6 more successful entrepreneurial ventures, and has received numerous awards.
Sabrina earned her joint doctorate degree in work-based learning leadership at the Wharton School and Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. She holds double master’s degrees: an MBA from USC and a Master of Science in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania, both with honors.

As president of the LASEC, Schloessman oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the Commission. Some of the major events the Commission is working with, to help market and promote, include the U.S. Amateur and the Walker Cup (August/September 2017), the NBA All-Star Weekend (February 2018), the NCAA Men’s Regional (March 2018) and the Super Bowl (February 2021).

Dr. Bernard Luskin, LMFT, is the Chancellor of Ventura County Community College District and has been CEO of eight colleges and universities, including president of Oxnard, Moorpark, Orange Coast and Coastline Community Colleges, Chancellor of Jones International University, CEO of Touro University Worldwide, and President of Wright Graduate University. He taught at UCLA, USC, Claremont Graduate University, Pepperdine University, Touro University, California State University at Fullerton and Los Angeles, Fielding, and Claremont Graduate Universities.
In the private sector, Dr. Luskin has been president and CEO of divisions of Fortune 500 companies, including Philips Interactive Media and Jones International, including Mind Extension University, Knowledge TV, and Jones Education Networks. He has authored best-selling books on economics, technology, and education and produced award-winning television series and CDs. He launched the first Ph.D. program in media psychology at Fielding Graduate University and the UCLA MA degree program in Media Psychology and Social Change.
Dr. Luskin received two Emmys from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, lifetime achievement and distinguished alumni awards from the UCLA Doctoral Alumni Association, California State University at Los Angeles, and The University of Florida, the Irish Government, the European Union and the American Psychological Association. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and served on a guided missile ship.
Sandy BergPresident & CEO, Berg Family of Companies
Sandra Berg is a proven leader with experience serving on private, public policy, and nonprofit boards. As President & CEO of the Berg Family of Companies, Chairman of the Board of American Coatings Association, and a member of the California Air Resources Board, Ms. Berg’s leadership has successfully combined two worlds that are often seen as oil and water – the chemical industry and air quality public policy. Berg Family of Companies has two cornerstone businesses: Ellis Paint Company, a specialty paint manufacturer, celebrating 126 years in business, and Pacific Resource Recovery Services, an EPA permitted Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility that recycles paint related waste streams. Ms. Berg’s innovative leadership, proactive compliance and community outreach have been key elements which set both Ellis Paint Company and Pacific Resources apart from their national and international competition.In 2004, Ms. Berg was appointed to the California Air Resources Board by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Air Resources Board is California’s lead air quality agency, responsible for protecting protecting public health by reducing air pollution. The Air Resources Board is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in policy, innovative technology, and driving business in California to develop clean air solutions. Combining her business acumen and community involvement, Ms. Berg brings a practical perspective to the Board. In Ms. Berg’s capacity as a Board Member, she has chaired several committees overseeing a billion dollars of public incentive funding and facilitated key policy implementation groups, while always emphasizing the need to protect public health and the environment while also keeping business strong.
In addition to her service with the California Air Resources Board and the American Coatings Association, Ms. Berg has a passion for our youth and education. She is a past Board Member of the Hollenbeck Police Activity League and has served eight years on the 34th Congressional District Student Art Competition board. She is a member the World Presidents’ Organization City of Angels Chapter, and C-200, a leading philanthropic organization of businesswomen.
Dr. Ellis GedneyFormer CEO and Founder, Silicon Valley College and Pinnacle College
Dr. Ellis Gedney served as Chief Executive Officer of Silicon Valley College and Pinnacle College. Dr. Gedney has devoted more than thirty years to educational administration and management, the last twenty of which he has served as a college president or chairman of the board. He served as Chairman of the Board at National Career Education, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ex’pression College for the Digital Arts, Member of the Advisory Board of Career College Holding Co., Inc and InsideTrack, Inc. He has proven leadership skills in various fields including as Accreditation Team Leader for National Association of Trade and Technical Schools (NATES) and Accreditation Team Leader for Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). His publications include presentations at both national and international conferences on higher education. He was honored as Team Leader of the Year in January 1994 by the ACCSC and by the Career College Association in 1999 for lobbying effort. Dr. Gedney received Ph.D in Psychology from University of Virginia, M.S in Business from Columbia University, and B.A in Liberal Arts from Denison University.
Andy BarthChairman, Capital Guardian Trust Company
Andrew F. Barth is chairman of Capital Guardian Trust Company, chairman of Capital International Limited, executive vice president of Capital Group International Inc., and vice chairman of Capital International Research, Inc. He also serves as a director for the Capital Group Companies, Inc. He is a member of the Global Institutional committee. Mr. Barth joined the Capital Group Companies in 1985 after completing his MBA at Columbia Business School. He graduated from Columbia summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. His civic duties include serving on the board of trustees for the California Science Center Foundation, and Pomona College, and on the board of overseers for the Huntington Museum, Library and Gardens.
