Tuition Assistance

As a member of the National Guard you have Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) that may be available to you. The tuition assistance is determined by the Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits as well as the state funded education incentives.

Benefits to National Guard members Enrolling in College

If you are a National Guard member and qualify for Tuition Assistance there are a number of benefits available to you both through the military and by Fremont University. Some of the benefits offered by our college include: waived technology fees, waived application fee, free tutoring, 5 mentors provided to help you succeed.

  • TA benefits provide you with up to $4,000 of financial assistance each fiscal year for qualified programs.
  • Fremont University waives our $25/Application fee for military students.
  • Fremont University waives our $50/Transcript Evaluation fee for military students.
  • Fremont University will proved you with 5 mentors and an online class instructor.

Fremont University offers a number of online courses that allow military service members and their spouses the opportunity to earn a certificate or degree from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. Our programs can be completed in as little as 7 months and start dates happen every 5 weeks! Instructors are available all year round to help with any questions you might have. In addition to a great staff of instructors, each student is provided with up to 5 mentors to ensure you are successful during and after your studies at Fremont University.

Eligibility Requirements

Applying for Tuition Assistance (TA) through GoArmyEd:

  • Request TA through GoArmyEd before the course start date or the school’s late registration period.
  • You must request TA for each course you take.
  • You will receive notification from GoArmyEd when your request for TA has been approved or denied. If you request is denied, GoArmyEd will advise you of the next step you should take.
  • All dropped courses or withdrawals must take place through GoArmyEd. If you receive an “F” you will be required to repay your TA. If you are unable to complete a course due to your military duties, you must ensure that you withdraw from the course through GoArmyEd so that you will not be charged.
  • You must submit a new, signed TA Statement of Understanding (SOU) each year (SFC and above may sign for themselves and the commander). Your TA request will not be authorized until the TA SOU is approved. You will receive a notice from GoArmyEd 90 days before the due date.
  • Your TA can be used with MGIB-Selected Reserve or MGIB-Active Duty as long as you are enrolled at least half time or more. However, MGIB-AD participants who are drawing GI Bill-Kicker benefits are not eligible.
