Lupe’s path to the major leagues began with her gumption and setting a memorable impression. When she began at Fremont University, she walked up to the front desk, introduced herself, and said, “I want you guys to know who I am because I’m going to be somebody, I’m going to make it.” She wanted to be the best, so she asked which instructor could help guide her in the right direction.
A week later, a guest speaker from the LA Sparks was on the Fremont University campus speaking to the students. Lupe introduced herself to the speaker.

After the speech, the Sparks representative came over to Lupe and asked if she’d like to do an internship with the Sparks at Courts Corner. Lupe jumped at the opportunity. “Absolutely!” she exclaimed. Lupe began right away, even as she was just beginning at Fremont University.

Her first tactical was with none other than WNBA MVP and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Candace Parker. Lupe couldn’t even begin to imagine what she was getting into when she showed up at Candace Parker’s house. She thought she was just interviewing for an internship. But the next day, she got a phone call from the Sparks’ athletic trainer who told her she was hired, because Candace had loved Lupe’s work so much. She couldn’t stop talking about Lupe! And that’s how Lupe’s professional journey took a leap towards the path of her dreams.
In addition to her own success, Lupe has been instrumental in helping other Fremont University students get internships at Courts Corner, where she is a full-time therapist. Some of those students are now also part of Courts Corner.
