    Tuition Assistance

    As a service member of the the Marine Corps, you are entitles to Tuition Assistance (TA) that will pay 100% Tuition not to exceed:

    • $166 Quarter Credit Hour,
    • and $4500 per Fiscal Year.


    Benefits to Marines Men Enrolling in College

    As a member of the military there are a number of educational benefits available to you.  In addition to TA, Fremont College waives the admissions application fee, waives the technology fee, provides free tutoring, and 5 mentors to Marines who enroll in our military friendly school.   Fremont College is DOD approved, which allows you to take advantage of education programs including military tuition assistance.

    • TA benefits provide you with up to $4,000 of financial assistance each fiscal year for qualified programs.
    • Fremont College waives our $25/Application fee for military students.
    • Fremont College waives our $50/Transcript Evaluation fee for military students.
    • Fremont College will proved you with 5 mentors and an online class instructor.

    Fremont College offers a number of online courses that allow military spouses the opportunity to earn a certificate or degree from anywhere in the world, as long as you have an internet connection. Our programs can be completed in as little as 7 months and start dates happen every 5 weeks! Instructors are available all year round to help with any questions you might have. In addition to a great staff of instructors, each student is provided with up to 5 mentors to ensure you are successful during and after your studies at Fremont College.

    Eligibility Requirements

    • Complete a TA orientation class prior to using TA.  To attend the course, visit the Lifelong Learning or Education Office at your local base. (If you are stationed at a remote location, click here  to access the orientation course.  Upon completion, you will need to print and fill out the certification form.)
    • If you are located at a remote site, your TA will be processed at Camp Lejeune (if you are stationed east of the Mississippi) and Camp Pendleton (if you are stationed west of the Mississippi).  I-I duty Marines will apply through MARFORRES in New Orleans.  Recruiters will apply via their recruiting district or region headquarters.
    • Marines must apply for TA through the WebTA Portal at: https://www.navycollege.navy.mil/ta_info.aspx  Please ensure that you provide accurate fee information.  Follow all directions listed on the TA Application

    Important Information for using TA:

    • First-time, active-duty TA applicants must have 24 months’ in service from their active-duty base date.
    • First-time TA applicants must complete the MCI Personal Financial Management Course (Course ID 3240G).
    • Marines who do not possess an associate degree or 60 academic credits cannot take multiple courses concurrently.
    • First-time TA applicants with a general technical score of less than 100 must take the Adult Basic Education Test and acquire a score of 10.2.
    • Marines must complete a degree plan prior to completing 27 quarter hour credits.
    • TA is not authorized for reimbursement for textbooks.
    • TA is not authorized for use on courses leading to a lateral or lower level degree than the one you have already attained.
    • TA cannot be used for certifications, license exams or credentials.
    • Marines shall be eligible for promotion.
    • Any officer using TA must remain on active duty for two years prior to completion of the last TA funded course.
    • TA is available to Reservists on continuous active duty and their course must end prior to demobilization/deactivation.
